Review: Lingoes 2.2.0 Beta

Lingoes Homepage

This is a dictionary software that does all those translation, pronunciation, and acts as a dictionary. What so good about it is that different dictionary can be installed into the software. Currently, there are altogether over 80 languages available. Famous dictionaries like Longman, Oxford, Cambridge and so on are available for this software! English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Arabic, Hebrew etc.

The really cool feature is that you can hit ctrl+ right click and the meaning of that particular world will come out!!! this is very convenient when you are reading an article and you do not know a particular word. Theres also loads of extras like abbreviation list, Irregular verbs, scientific calculator, Periodic table, etc.

Last but not least, It is a freeware!!! and the software itself is only a mere 3.69mb.

To know more about this software click on the link that i provided.

Review: 16GB Apacer SDHC Class 6 Card

Due to the shortage of storage space when I go for an outing, I got myself a 16GB Apacer SDHC Class 6 Card. it arrived on my doorstep last Wednesday.

Photobucket
The name of the SD card was quite classy. "Professional Photo Series" :D This card cost me RM217.

Features:

Apacer Website

With ECC error detection and correction to ensure data integrity, wear leveling for extended product life, a mechanical write protection switch to prevent accidental deletion or overwriting of valuable data, and auto stand-by and sleep modes to reduce power consumption and extend device battery life, Apacer SDHC Class 6 16GB flash cards deliver best in class speed and storage.

Performance

This card is stated as a high speed card. Class 6's minimum write speed would be 6MB/s. I did my own test to see whether or not it can perform what it claims. I copied a 1.2GB video file back and forth. One large file will give a better result than many small files. i did the file copying a few times to ensure that the results would be consistent.

The results:
Write speed: 10.3MB/s
Read speed: 19MB/s

This speed is very impressive I would say. When i was using my previous nikon proprietary 2GB SD card, my camera's buffer would usually be full after about 20 shots(D40's buffer can contain up to 7 Images). With this Apacer 16GB SDHC card, my buffer didnt drop anywhere below 4 shots!!! Thus, i held onto the shutter button for 200+ shots and ah well, the buffer just would not wanna fill up :D

Verdict

All in all, the card performed as it should. I didnt bother to play arond with the software that was bundled with this card (Photoshop is the best!!). I have yet to take it out on a photo shoot to test it out but it should work fine. Good card with great speed. Just a reminder, you need a SDHC compliant card reader to be able to read it. :)

Ok i just came back from a 3 day scout camp. That is why you dont see me posting these few days. I went to Lundu. Nice beach over there. Tok a few shots.

4. Sunset. It was quite dark then. I only had the option to shoot hand held. That is why you can see the noise in the photo. Photobucket

5.Another shot of the plain blue sky. Good for use as background :)
Photobucket

6. My first attempt of a panorama. Hand held too. using RAW files. Sorry bout the size coz its long and my blog theme cannot support such long width. you can click here to have a bigger image.

C&C all welcomed :respect:

Its been real tough for me

For the past 6 months, everything has been very chaotic. It all happened so fast I sometimes don't even know what went wrong. My previous few posts have received many harsh comments. From all the people i respected and highly look up to. I may have said a lot of wrong stuff. I dont know how to put it in words here. Theres always something that you wont see it coming. I have deleted all those posts that are prone to have offended people. Hope all will just forgive and forget then look forward. My sincere apology to anyone who i offended by writing unnecessary stuff.

regards,
orenzai
