Sometimes, loneliness strikes us from the inside. We feel so empty, standing in the battle field all alone. However, there are times where...
Happiness comes into our lives. We must appreciate the friends around us... have fun with them... and one day.....

Review: YXTM D40 Vertical Battery Grip
I had this battery grip for quite some time now but didnt have the time to do a detailed review on it.
Looks
Not much to comment about the looks actually. It is a third party battery grip so the quality is not assured. The whole thing makes the d40 a "big brother" when attached. I cant take a picture of it attached to my d40 as i don't have any other camera besides my d40.
For me, it is a tad expensive. close to 110USD.Its the only few battery grip that is avail for my D40, so i dont quite have a choice.
There is a infrared transmitter on the front part of the battery grip. It cant be retracted but may be broken if not careful when using. No dial to adjust the shutter speed/aperture.
you get to insert 2 D40 batteries into the battery grip. The battery grip also came with a 6xAA battery pack(same size as the one above) in case you need to use it during emergency.
Features & Performance
This battery grip is not an ordinary battery grip. Since it is a 3rd party battery grip, it has quite a number of major limitations. To change from horizontal grip to vertical grip, is just too cumbersome. I rather just tilt my camera and use the conventional way of taking portrait shots. To change from horizontal grip to vertical grip you need 4 steps!!!
1.Set the function button(the one below the flash button) to "shooting mode"
2.Turn the dial to the left ONCE. I usually turn to much.
3.Pop the tiny IR thing out from the battery grip(You must always push it back when not in use to prevent it from being knocked and broken).
4.Make sure there is no obstruction between the IR receiver on the grip of the D40 and the vertical battery grip. Only then you can start shooting.
That may not sound a lot but actually it really hogs you down. You have to take another 4 steps to change it back to horizontal shooting. To make it more disappointing, there is no option to press the shutter halfway. Once you click on the shutter it will focus and then snap. This is very annoying when you wanna wait for the right moment to snap a shot. A 2 second beep will be heard once a shot is taken(irritating). The lack of a dial to adjust shutter speed/aperture is also very frustrating. You have to switch back to horizontal grip to adjust them THEN change back to vertical grip to shoot. All this is because D40 was not meant to have a battery grip.
Pros:
-Better grip for big hands.
-You get double battery life. Ideal for shooting Ultra long exposures and when connected to the computer.
-Acts as a vertical grip
-Give your camera more weight. Heavier means better stability.
-Looks more professional :D
Cons:
-Vertical grip shutter feels cheap(loose).
-No Dial for adjusting shutter/aperture.
-Troublesome to change from horizontal grip to vertical grip.
Verdict
Enough said, a 3rd party vertical battery grip just wont do the job. All those hassle to switch from horizontal grip to vertical grip just makes you lose all those important moments. Its not worth the money spent. I regretted buying it.Unless you have too much money to spend on, I advice everyone out there to NOT buy this battery grip. The vertical grip is just not a vertical grip.
EDIT: sory bout the claim of it being shakey when attached to the D40. i actually didnt tighten it enough...so it actually fits properly

Review: Sony DSC-T2 (Album T)
Today i managed to borrow a Album T from one of my friend. I decided to do a review on it even though it has been out for quite some time.
Looks
Sony is well-known for its Cybershot series. This is another addition to the family with a few nifty features.
its quite small and handy. Its can slip into a normal sized pocket without much problem.
to start off, the camera feels sturdy and solid in my hands. No comments on quality-wise. The whole camera only has 6 buttons. Shutter, power, playback, scrapbook, zoom in and out. the touch-screen at the back fills up almost the whole back part of the camera. The front part, a slip of the cover reveals the lens,AF assist LED and a flash on the left-hand side.
Large 2.5" touch screen.
The few main features are:
-8.1mp
-4GB internal memory(that's excluding the MS duo pro which you probably wont need it)
-Face detection
-2.5" touch screen
-Super steady shot
-x3 optical zoom
the full product details can be found here
Features
This camera is filled with loads of features. It acts as a scrap book. Also, the touch up function is really quite fun. I spent my time drawing bunny ears on peoples face the whole time! With 4GB memory, its really all you need. The MS duo pro slot would give you extra memory expansion when needed. What i like about this camera is that its quite versatile. For the more advanced users, The PGM(Program Mode) lets you have control over the settings. To my surprise for a compact camera it gave you options to tweak such as:
-Flash compensation +/-
-EV compensation +/- 2 stops
-ISO 80-3200
-AF focus area [selective, auto, infinite, 0.5M, 1M, 3M, 7M]
-Metering (Matrix/Multi, Center-weighted, Spot)
-Macro mode
Performance
The image quality taken is quite OK to me. Color produced where vivid enough for my liking. Some shots are metered quite accurately when using spot metering. Focusing took about half a second. At ISO400 you can start to see the noise but that's nothing to shout about as its a compact camera. The ISO can go to as high as 3200 which, i doubt anyone would wanna use that. The image stabilization worked out very well i would say. i ALMOST took a perfectly sharp shot at a shutter speed of 1/2.5!!! This is quite a big plus. White balance was a bit off at times but didn't pose a big problem. The macro shots were quite impressive i would say, which produced creamy 'bokeh'. The Video was smooth at the highest quality with sharp and crisp sound.
It uses their proprietary head to connect to the computer, which may pose a problem if you lose it of forget to bring it along with you.
Here are some test shots taken from the Album T.
It focused well enough and even created a slight panning. :)
This shot is shot at 1/2.5 handheld with Super Steady Shot turned on!! very impressive!
Verdict
Overall, a decent camera for a valuable price tag of RM1399(RRP).Suitable for anyone who needs a camera with them all the time. The touch screen is quite sensitive. My other friend has spoilt the right part of the touch screen due a excessive force..so be carefu; and handle with care

Review: Logitech X-230 2.1 Multimedia Speaker
Yes...i got my new set of boom(speakers) today at the PIKOM PC FAIR held at the permata carpark,kuching(4th-6th April, 11am-9pm). As my current speakers are about age out anytime, i decided to get a new set, a better and more reliable one. At first i was looking for Altec Lansing, but then it was qutie hard to find around Kuching and ironically, they did not set up a booth in this PC Fair. I walked around and the more reliable ones i could find were Logitech. I ended up buying the Logitech X-230 2.1 channel speakers for RM145.

very attractive box :)
below are the specs taken from the official website:
# Total RMS power: 32 W RMS
Satellites: 12 W RMS (6 W x 2)
Subwoofer: 20 W RMS
# Total peak power: 64 W
# Frequency response: 40Hz - 20kHz
# Drivers:
Satellites: (2) 2" drivers per satellite
Subwoofer: 5.25" ported driver
# Speaker dimensions (H x W x D, cm):
Satellites: 20.3 X 6.4 X 7.6
Subwoofer: 22.9 x 15.2 x23.5
# Signal-to-noise ratio: >96dB
Enough of those technical stuff. As you can see, the RMS power may seem to be quite unconvincing, dont be fooled by that. The speaker produced deep bass with exceptional mids and highs. They were crisp and clear without any distortion when i turned it to full volume. That is a plus plus from me. I tried out trance, techno, and ambient music. It all sounded very good except for some of the songs the bass was a lil too loud. The satellite speakers that were used are 2 2" drivers on each side. The subwoofer is a 5.25" ported driver, which is more than enough for me. All it matters is the results.
a 5.25" subwoofer to blast away your neighbours.
The right hand side satellite speaker holds the volume control, power button, headphone jack(3.5mm).
A nifty thing they added is a cable adapter for use of other equipments such as dvd players, TV and etc.
For best results i placed the sub-woofer on the floor. It was perfect.
Verdict: For RM145, i think its worth every penny spent. However the sad news is that this speaker is obselete. I don't know how sure it is but the saleperson said that this model has stopped production. Maybe you could find them is your local retailers with leftover stocks. All in all, this speaker does wonders.
Performance: 8/10
Value for money: 10/10
Verdict: 9/10
